Fishing Report 3/22/13

Bait in the lower Tampa Bay area is beginning to get thicker. Due to the warm winter it never really left but it is now getting easier to get. The key to filling your live well is being at the bait spot at the right time and with the right size net. As for the fishing it has been good, the Snook bite this last couple of weeks has been a lot of fun. White bait has been the key. A few chummers to get them going will help your hook up time. The Trout over the last week were very cooperative. They have been eating jigs as well as white bait. You can find them from the skinny water to the drop offs of the flats. The flats edges and the channels along with the fishing piers are all good spots to locate Spanish Mackerel which have been showing up over the last few weeks. You can expect that to get better and better over the next month or two. The Redfish have been around but remain temperamental, one day they will eat and the next they won't. When targeting Redfish stay quiet and make long casts try live and cut bait to increase your odds of hooking up.

So there it is get out and have fun fishing!
